Don't assume that because they use a designer's photo that the dress will look like the designer original. Take a close look at their sample photos, if available, to see the quality and attention to detail in a finished product.
#2 - Only purchase your gown from a retailer that offers a refund policy. There is no reason why an online gown retailer cannot guarantee the quality of their product. If they say, "well, it's a custom gown so we don't provide refunds" steer clear of them.
#3 - Steer away from Ebay unless the seller has a legitimate business outside of the site. There are too many fly by night wedding businesses that disappear in a matter of days on Ebay and then there's no way to track your purchase.
#4 - Only purchase gowns from sites that offer Paypal. Your payment is secure. Don't use money wire or transfer services.
#5 - It's best to use a US based company. This way you don't have to worry about time zone differences or language barriers.
